Ferrari F80 : All new Hybrid Hypercar
Ferrari F80: All New HyperCar
Ferrari launches the all-new F80 to celebrate their 80 years of Ferrari brand. This car is the 6th of their greatest cars ever produced, from the 1984 GTO to the 2016 LaFerrari Aperta.
The Ferrari F80 is a successor of the Ferrari LaFerrari, part of the next-generation hypercar trinity alongside the McLaren W1 and Porsche's secret hypercar project.
Design and Aerodynamics
The Ferrari F80 is designed to look even more extreme than the LaFerrari. It has a bold front end, but with new visuals compared to 2013 models. The black band across the nose of the F80 resembles the design seen in Ferrari’s new 12-cylinder Grand Tourer.
Other key features include:
- 20-inch and 21-inch carbon wheels
- Lowered roofline by 5 cm compared to the LaFerrari
- Contoured side skirts and aerodynamic fins behind the side windows
The rear design is inspired by the SP3 Daytona but without the retro influences. The larger rear wing makes it the biggest on any Ferrari since the F50.
Performance and Powertrain
The Ferrari F80 marks a significant shift with its 3.0 L V6 twin-turbo engine, a departure from the naturally aspirated V12 of the F50. This V6 engine is based on the 296 GTB and features hybrid technology similar to the SF90 and 499P. Key performance details include:
- 900 HP from the engine alone
- 1200 HP combined with its hybrid system
- All-wheel drive with electric turbochargers and a tri-motor hybrid system
- Acceleration: 0-100 km/h in 2.15 seconds
- Top speed: 434 km/h
Engineering and Technology
The F80’s chassis is made from carbon fiber, and Ferrari has used 3D printing to make the front suspension as light as possible. It shares some suspension components with the Purosangue SUV, allowing for adaptive suspension features that enhance cornering and ride height.
The active suspension system can adjust the right height of each wheel, enhancing downforce by working with the flat floor and massive rear diffuser.
Price and Availability
The Ferrari F80 has a dry weight of 1,525 kg—45 kg lighter than the SF90. Only 799 units of the F80 will be produced, and each will cost approximately £3 million or $3.9 million. Despite the high price tag, all units have already been sold!
